Audits & Pre-Audit Preparation

Some importers might not take their Customs obligations to heart until they are audited, which generally makes for an unpleasant experience.

The pain can be lessened by conducting a pre-audit review to:

bullet Identify products with duty overpayments and pursue duty recovery;

bullet Identify and disclose any situations where duties are underpaid to avoid penalties that potentially could be enforced if the problem is left for the auditors to discover; and

bullet Develop and implement effective internal controls to improve chances of
passing audit (i.e., avoiding a potential downgrade in risk category,
expansion and continuation of the audit, and including follow-up visits).

Please refer to Experience page to review Mr. Bowen's experience in audits.
